8 WEEK COURSE

Our 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course is an integrated programme of meditation and mindfulness practices, including physical movement, that aims to enable more skilful handling of challenging emotions, thoughts, social interactions and physical sensations. The course is based on the MBSR course developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre over 30 years ago. The course has been clinically proven to be effective in dealing with stress of all kinds, whether caused by specific health problems or by a demanding lifestyle.

During the course participants are taught a number of straightforward meditation techniques designed to develop increased awareness of being in the present moment, moment-by-moment. The meditation practices we teach are essentially the bridge to greater awareness, i.e. mindfulness, in our everyday lives. But in order to derive the many benefits that mindfulness can bring it is essential that course participants commit to a daily meditation practice for the entirety of the 8-week course.

The course is taught over 8 x 2 hour evening sessions and 1 all-day session and it is important that participants ensure they can commit to all 9 sessions before enrolling on the course. Participants also need to be aware that they will be required to set aside around 45 minutes per day for home practice. The course is intended to be informal and relaxed so that participants feel comfortable sharing their experiences, an important aspect of the mindfulness meditation learning experience. The course includes meditation practice recordings and course materials.

While there are shorter mindfulness courses and a myriad of 'self-help' mindfulness books available, we believe that the most effective way to learn mindfulness is by committing to the full 8 week course with an experienced teacher and in a supportive group environment.

NB: Course is limited to 12 participants

Cancellation Policy

Course fee is payable in full at the time of booking. If you cancel more than 21 days prior to the start of your booked course, we will refund your fee minus a £50 cancellation charge. We regret that cancellations 21 days or less before the start of your booked course cannot be refunded.
